OUR OBJECTIVES:
The main objectives are as follows:
1.Providing FREE supplementary education to the socially & economically deprived children of the society.
  2.Personality development of the children
3.Creating an atmosphere for providing normal childhood to the children
4.Carrier guidance for providing vocational training to the children
5.Helping the parents of such children in other possible ways

OUR METHODOLOGY:
1.FREE SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATION:
It is well known that even the good school requires parents’ participation in home work of students and making it essential for parents to be educated. The children from the slums do not have this advantage since most of the parents in the slums are illiterate and cannot contribute to their children’s home work.

Eklavya Pathshala provides such children free supplementary education upto the class 12 on regular basis throughout the year for 3 hours daily. Here they are taught all subjects and are helped in their home work as well. In order to address all the children effectively, we keep some study materials ready. Holidays are specially utilized to stress more on their basics. Necessary stationery is provided free by the center to all the students. This helps us in monitoring their performance and taking suitable action to rectify the shortcomings. Their performance is further judged by periodical tests.

2.POOR LIVING CONDITIONS:
The poor living conditions in the slums are also a hindrance. Most of the slums do not have electricity and their living accommodation is limited to one hutment where the whole family stays together. The study by the children in their homes is practically impossible.

3.PERSONALITY DEVELOPMMENT
We can give our property and money to our kith and kin, but to whom are we supposed to give our knowledge. Will it burn with the PIRE?
We can give our property and money to our kith and kin, but to whom are we supposed to give our knowledge. Will it burn with the PIRE?It is a well-known fact that children learn their first lesson from the home and their parents are their first teacher .But the children living in slums are not so lucky because their parents have no time for them because of their difficult life.

The center tries to mitigate it by regular counseling, value inculcation, lectures on ethics, short stories, etc. This helps in understanding the difference between good manners and bad manners as well as the legal & social consequences of bad habits. Good students in any of the fields are suitably rewarded for proper motivation.

4.NORMAL CHILLDHOOD:
Efforts are made to provide them a normal childhood like other children from well off families. On special occasions/festivals they are provided with snacks. As far as the clothes are concerned, we provide them with old clothes because of limited resources, but children being children always hanker for new clothes. So after every test, they are provided with new clothes, new shoes, new bags, etc. as a reward for performing better in the test. Sometimes a few children are taken to a shopping mall as performance reward.

5.CARIER GUIDANCE FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING:
Most of the children and their parents are unaware of future prospects once their primary & secondary education is complete. Neither they are able to continue further education nor do they possess any skill to start earning adequately. So they land up in petty jobs or business.

We guide them and help them prepare for various jobs. We appraise them about various Institutes run under National Skill Development Mission and governmental Social welfare programme which aims at providing vocational training to the needy.

6.HELP TO THEIR PARENTS:
Because of our selfless service a bond develops between us and parents of our students. We interact with the parents to make them aware about their rights as citizens. This helps in preventing their exploitation by corrupt and undesirable elements in the society particularly in the fields of medical care and financial assistance by the government under the various schemes.

7.TRANSPARENCY & EFFICIENT UTILLIZATION OF DONOR’S MONEY:
Most of the donors want to ensure that their money is utilized properly. Well, we provide Donors with regular feedback through our SMS and our website. The photo gallery brings out all the activities undertaken at the centers. Further in order to reduce administrative cost, we encourage volunteers and try to keep paid staff at minimum. All the activities of the centers are also carried out from free accommodations provided by donors and children are taught by volunteers.

Most of the money raised through donations spent on children for purchasing stationery items, snacks, rewards for tests and entertainment of children. Accounts of the funds are made available to the donors. We prefer that the prospective donor visits our centers before making any commitment.
We have taken a lot from the Society, but now its time to return back something to the Society. .
